Dr. Vaughn's Biography:
In addition to his extensive evangelistic ministry, Dr. John C. Vaughn is the President of the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship International and Pastor Emeritus of Faith Baptist Church in Taylors, SC, where he served as Senior Pastor for 30 years. Dr. Vaughn and his wife Brenda are co-authors of More Precious Than Gold: The Fiery Trial of a Family’s Faith, which tells the story of a fire in the Vaughn home in 1978, in which Brenda and daughter Becky were severely burned. From humble beginnings in a small metal building, the 1200 member Faith Baptist Church and Hidden Treasure Christian School (for disabled children) now share a beautiful 36-acre campus.
Dr. Vaughn has preached in 48 states and 57 foreign countries, in churches, colleges, camps and conferences, and was heard for many years on the daily radio broadcast Foundations of Faith. His sermons are regularly downloaded from www.sermonaudio.com. His articles appear in FrontLine magazine and other Christian publications. He has served as the Senior Chaplain of the Greenville Police Department since 1987, as President of the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools from 1988-2005, and as Editor of FrontLine magazine. To help a new generation in “Learning to Love and Live the Bible,” Dr. Vaughn founded FrontLine Clubs, a uniformed, graded youth discipleship program for Bible-believing churches.
He serves on the boards of Bob Jones University, The Wilds, International Baptist Missions, and Mission Gospel Ministries International. He accepted a gubernatorial appointment to serve a four-year term on the Commission of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, serving over 29,000 disabled South Carolinians. Having attended Cumberland College and the University of South Carolina, Dr. Vaughn graduated from Bob Jones University in 1977. In 1989, he received the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from BJU, completed the Master of Ministry degree in 1991, and in 2006 was honored as the BJU Alumnus of the Year. He recently completed the Doctor of Pastoral Theology degree with a dissertation on “The Extension of Local Church Ministry through Military and Law Enforcement Chaplaincy.”
The Vaughns have five adult children (one with the Lord since September 2008) and nine grandchildren. Although Brenda is now in failing health, and Becky is working on a graduate degree in Counseling from Bob Jones University, as the Lord allows, Dr. Vaughn continues to preach, teach and write through the John C. Vaughn Evangelistic Association, founded for the purpose of spreading the Gospel by “Encouraging Those Who Care for Others©.”
