Grandkids, Summer 2009

The summer months bring grandchildren for visits! A precious couple from Faith Baptist Church made it possible for Silas to attend horsemanship camp conducted by Curt and Bev Doherty, former teachers at Hidden Treasure Christian School. Their wonderful ministry is like Vacation Bible School at a Western Ranch—lots of lessons and lots of work! It was a life changing experience for Silas. Also, both Silas and Sarah Mac enjoyed orientation flight during summer visits, courtesy of John Leupp, General Manager of Majesty Music.

Grandson David Locke stood strong for the Lord recently as reported in a recent letter from our daughter Debbie:

David is in fourth grade this year (Debbie’s kids are in public school this year.) His class is very diverse, with Catholics, Muslims, Hindus, Jews, etc.  David’s teacher had asked the class to bring in four things to describe themselves, but we were out and I didn’t see what David had taken. When he got home, he showed me: his baseball (of course, he’s a star pitcher!); a little stuffed dog (he loves animals); a picture of our family (he told them all about Matthew having Down Syndrome), and his BIBLE.  I asked him what he told the class about his Bible, and he said, “Well, I did that one last, and I said, ‘This is my Bible.  I brought it because I love to read, and because I love God, and I believe in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for my sins.”  Wow.  I was so humbled and amazed as I listened to him.  Then he told me, “I turned a little red after I said that; I’m not sure why, but I felt like I was in the principal’s office for a minute.”

We all know the feeling David, but your words were well spoken!
